At Move Over Breast Cancer, we understand that a breast cancer journey can leave you feeling uncertain and less than your best. That’s why we created a transformative program called Glow UP, designed to uplift cancer survivors by offering them a day of glamour and self-care. Women are treated to a full experience with professional hairstylists and makeup artists who help them embrace their beauty. We work together to create a glamorous wardrobe with stunning outfits, including wig and jewelry, that reflect their unique style and personality. The day culminates in a photoshoot where survivors can showcase their newfound confidence and celebrate their journey, highlighting not only their outer beauty but also the courage they’ve demonstrated along the way in their cancer journey. Glow UP aims to empower these women, providing a supportive environment that encourages joy and self-love, reminding them that they are beautiful inside and out.
Our more recent Glow UP day featured not one, but two lovely breast cancer survivors. It’s a tale of friendship and resilience as they met 25 years ago while working at daycare facility.
“From day one, we weren’t just coworkers; we became family and our lives have intertwined ever since. Our bond deepened even further as we both were faced with the toughest challenge of our lives: a breast cancer diagnosis. Ashley’s battle came in 2013 and mine in 2023. Together, we have navigated the trials of life, united by our shared experience with cancer. Ashley has played a crucial role in my journey and our bond, forged through these shared experiences and challenges, has transformed us into sisters for life, and we are so proud. Move Over Breast Cancer allowed us to celebrate our connection as part of the Glow UP program. I walked away from the day with a renewed sense of self, a belief in beauty, and a reminder that I am still me-radiant and capable."
“Move Over Breast Cancer is an incredible organization! I only wish something like this existed when I was diagnosed back in 2013. Recently, my friend Jocie was diagnosed, and I saw a post about the chance to win a glam photo experience. I nominated both of us, as our bond was already unique—and only deepened with her diagnosis. Sisters for life!
Move Over Breast Cancer graciously chose us both and gave us an unforgettable experience. Me, celebrating 10 years cancer-free, and Jocie, in her first year, still undergoing treatment. My goal was to help her through the thick of it and embrace every positive thing that came her way—because a positive attitude and outlook are half the battle.
What I didn’t expect was how much this experience would impact me, too. I walked away feeling renewed, confident, radiant, and more like myself than I had in a long time. I felt like a warrior—ready to face whatever comes next with grace and strength.
And when I saw our final photos? I was astonished. We looked beautiful, but more importantly, we felt beautiful."
